Searching indefinitely

Ayman A R Jun 07, 2015

Im trying my first collection with the Craftar app available on the Google play store. I inserted my collection token, and chose to scan. It keeps "Searching" indefinitely. Also, once this happens, and I exit the app, I find that the native camera isn't working (giving a black screen). Did anyone face such a problem before?

I have the same problem, I did the same steps, insert my token in Craftar and the recognition works, but don't show my augmented media, it remains loading content forever.

Hi Ayman,

I assume you are using the single-shot mode in the CraftAR app. There might be a problem while taking the picture, which might be causing the camera to stop, and then, not returning the picture, so the search is not being processed. Please, try on other Android devices and see if it works normally. Also, you could try using the finder mode, and see if the behaviour is the same. It would also be helpful if you send us the logs from your Android device while this is happening, together with the OS version and the device model.

Regarding the camera not working:

The camera of the device sometimes gets blocked, when that happens the only thing you can do is to restart the phone. There are multiple reasons for this to happen, but anyway, that’s an OS problem. It happened to me with any app that uses the camera. The camera can crash mainly in two different ways:

1- When the access to the camera is blocked (camera.open() fails)
2- Camera opens but does not work.

For the first case, the CraftAR SDK triggers an error showing a Dialog advising that the camera could not be opened, and then closes the app. If you want to modify this behaviour, override the method onCameraOpenFailed() in your CraftARActivity.

Hi Sergio,

The AR in the CraftAR app is divided in two steps: Recognition and tracking. Sometimes the recognition works but the tracking does not, since the image is too simple to be track (or it’s too far, or too blurry). The fact that recognition works does not guarantee that the tracking will.

We tested the image in your account, with the CraftAR app, and seems to be working fine. Try pointing closer to the reference image.

If you’re still having the issue contact us at support@catchoom.com

Best,

Miquel.

Sorry Miquel, my vote is "UP", they are close and I click "Down" By error, thanks for your help, I tried again today and it worked, maybe I have to wait some minutes to watch the changes, because I tried to test with a video using your demo "https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/crs-beta-catchoom/contents/Catchoom/out.mp4" and again I see nothing, but minutes later(1 or 2) it worked, some blinking while loading, but when loaded, working very well.

Thanks.

Hello,

I am having the same problem. And it happens both on the Cordova Android plugin and the CraftAR app from the Play Store on the same device. The problematic device is Lenovo A7000. I have also tried it with Lenovo K10a40 and it works fine. They have the same camera specs and the same Android Version 6.0. I have tried it also on Samsung S4 and Samsung Note 3 and it works fine. I tried to debug the app and it always comes back to what Miquel Ferrarons describes: "There might be a problem while taking the picture, which might be causing the camera to stop, and then, not returning the picture, so the search is not being processed. "

I don't know what else to do or test. Could someone help?

Thank you.
