Stream Vimeo videos instead of adding them to the bundle?

Dominik Apr 25, 2018

Hi,

I'm using the Pro SDK to add videos for On Device Recognition. When I add a Vimeo video link, the video seems to be included fully into the bundle, which then is downloaded on the mobile device. That can result in a very large bundle, when multiple videos are included. Is there any way of only adding the Vimeo link and then stream the video, when the marker image is recognized?

Best regards

Dominik

Hi Dominik,

What is exactly the use case? Looks strange that you are using on-device Image recognition but then want to stream the video.

An option to prevent big bundle files, is to create an empty on-device bundle (generate it with a new collection with no items) and then, get the apps sync the on-device collection as items are added. This way, if you embed the on-device bundle into the app, it will be always small and the app size will only grow as the collection grows and the app gets on sync.

Best regards,

Luis

Hi Luis,

Thank you for your answer. We will have very collections with a lot of videos. We want to do the image recognition on the device and then stream the videos when their according images are recognized. This way, we would not be limited in the amount of videos we can "include" in our collections.

Best regards

Hi Dominik,

In this case, I’d recommend you to leave the item’s contents empty and create the AR contents programmatically with the corresponding video url depending on the detected Item.

You can find an example on how to create AR contents programmatically in the examples project provided with the SDK.

Best regards,
Luis
