Large collection performance of on device recognition

Vickus Oct 27, 2017

How long would the recognition process take in a 2k image collection on a average / older device (example Samsung S6)?

Any apps that I can use to test drive this?

What would the size implications (ball park figure) be?

Cheers

Hi Vickus,

We did a few tests with the OnePlus 2 (similar device to the S6 in CPU, also high-end device from the first half of 2015). The recognition with a 3K images collection is below 500ms on average.

Best regards,
Luis

Hi Luis, hope this reaches you.

500ms sounds great for such a large collection.
Found size per image +/-20kb in a different FAQ.

This leads to a new question:
Is the on device recognition available cross platform (Android & Apple)?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use the on-device recognition on both Android and iOS.
