On-device Image recognition - ERROR_INVALID_SERVER_RESPONSE

João Pereira Oct 12, 2017

I have developed an app using the catchoom on-device image recognition library and bought the subscription to have more scans. However now when I signed the apk and placed it on the (android) play store when I try to scan an image I get the following error: ERROR_INVALID_SERVER_RESPONSE with log:
"search_time": 91,
"results": [{
"item": {
"uuid": "xxxxxxx",
"custom": "",
"content": null,
"images": ["xxxxxxx", "xxxxxx"],
"trackable": false,
"name": "vodafone ar"
"image": "xxxxxx",
"score": 56,
"bbox": [

[0.3889397382736206, 0.4086553156375885],

"collection": {
"pubkey": "",
"uuid": "xxxxxxx",
"image_template": "{0}/images/{1}_{2}_thumb_120.jpe",
"app_id": "com.catchoom.test"

(I have hidden the token and uuid on purpose).
The application is working correctly on iOS devices but in Android I get this error. Any idea?

Hi Joao,

Are you using On-Device Image Recognition? You don’t seem to have purchased the On-Device Add-on. If you look at the response, it contains: “app_id”: “com.catchoom.test” which is only returned if you’re using an un-registered/invalid AppID.
