On device recogntion - multiple active collections

kk Jul 26, 2017

Hi, can I have multiple collections loaded into device while using on-device recognition?. I'd like to have my scanned picture to be searched on all loaded collections (without the need for selecting in which collection the search should be done - it should be done in all loaded collection bundles).

Hi,

No. For this you need yo use a single collection. Collections are intended for this purpose. Why do you need several collections?

We have o flow where we have sets of images for one particular client - logically each client has his own collection. So now a client app can recognize pictures from single collection. Now we'd like to add a feature of having partners for this client. So for example:
client 1 - has collection1
client 2 - has collection2
client 3 - has collection3

1. now in client1 app, we'd like to setup, that client2 and client3 are partners, so the user that is using client1 app should be able to scan whatever image from client1, client2, client3 collections (it would be best if the user didn't have to select collection from which recognition should happen before scanning (it adds unnecessary additional step for the user))
2. client2 - still has it's own app - where only collection2 images can be recognized (since client2 images are grouped into its own collection - there is no problem with that). But from that reason - we can't have one huge collection.
3. Collections are managed threw API from our externa system - each client manages it's own collection - so from that reason too, we can't have one big collection.

Thanks in advance for any adives.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. Looks like you could benefit from using our ‘tagging’ feature. This allows to tag items in a collection so you can have subsets of the collection that can be downloaded and synchronized. With tags, you could have one tag per each user and tag all items that they have access to. This will not split the collection in the cloud but will allow you to create on-device bundles that contain only items with a given tag.

You can find out more here: https://support.catchoom.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2870096-what-is-tag-management-for-your-collections-and-what-is-it-good-for

Best regards,
Luis
